The First Semester of College (So Far!)

Image
From UCE to getting ready for my first finals week, my first semester has been rather memorable. Here are some highlights, in pictures!  1. Taking on the Spiritual Life Book Club and Reading Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality Well, the Spiritual Life Book Club discussed Donald Miller's book Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality . I thought that would be an interesting book to read. However, there were not that many people that were  interested in reading this book: one, the timing conflicted with many activities, and two, people just don't like to read more than what they can. Basically it flopped like Soul Pancake . There were some aspects of this book that I didn't like, but overall, I thought it was relevant because of the genuinely honest discussion that followed. I plan to brainstorm some ideas that would get people talking.  2. UPraise at the Spirit Rock Chapel had officially broken with tra

College...

UCE week starts tomorrow guys! Can't wait to blog about my new adventures. Hope to have a new post soon!

Goodbye, short summers, hello long college summers!

Since I don't have to go back to school until August 25 (except for the fact that I have to go to UCE activities starting August 16), this summer for me should be a time of reflection. Promotion Sunday was an effortless transition. The College/Career class I'm in now, is a co-ed small group for college students. Bible lessons will be completely different than high school. The only takeaway is that when fall semester rolls around, I may have nothing to do on Wednesdays besides worship praise team practice, and sometimes nursery. I'm also getting my health back on track, since senior year was obviously the early Freshman 15. AP Scores come out in the first full week of July. I'm honestly nervous, but this past year I only took two exams in favor of having an easier senior year and still managed to graduate with the distinction Distinguished with Highest Honors. Hopefully, the rest of the summer will be smooth sailing. At least I think it will.

Pre-Graduation Post

With graduation next week, I thought I would say a few things. First of all, don't think that just because the Re-Up is back up and running doesn't mean that I defacto canceled Life Unscripted. I will be returning with inspirational and true life stuff as soon as I can. My main blog, Jessica's Blog will be returning as well semi-regularly. That means I will have to manage three blogs at once!  See you soon,  Jessica

3 Months...and Counting

In about three months, my time as a Corbin High School student will come to an end. When I look at the past four years, I have lost and gained friends. I had a few obstacles that caused me to stumble spiritually. While the youth is preparing to go to discipleship camp in Fort Walton Beach, I attempt to brace myself for what's to come on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This time, I am adamant on my refusal to participate in youth activities, especially since I have made a promise last year that I have broken. This year, I have a different mindset. I don't have to do what everyone else is doing, nor that I don't have to post what I'm doing with the youth on social media like I've seen people at youth do. Maybe I'm distancing myself from the fun and games. Maybe I'm bracing myself for the tough times to come in college. Maybe I'm experiencing the tough times as of now. Maybe I'm just trying to match up my actions in private with my actions in publ
